Ted Cormier, Managing Partner
In 1999, Ted partnered with Dowling & Partners Securities to start Dowling Risk Analysis (DRA), an insurance research boutique focused on the quantitative modeling of the Life, P&C and Health insurance sectors for institutional clients. DRA changed its name to ALIRT Insurance Research after a buyout in 2006.

Ted is a Political Science/Soviet Studies graduate of Holy Cross, and worked on his graduate degree in International Business and Economics at Clark University while enrolled in the United States Air Force ROTC through 1985. Ted is a graduate of the Air Force’s Officer Training School, and is Series 6 and 63 certified.

Ted enjoys competitive sports and is a long time officer of the Granby Men’s Golf League, coaches soccer, and designed, constructed and maintains a tournament quality 18 hole, frisbee golf course on his property. In addition, he, his wife Kristen and their three children are actively involved in their community’s education and land preservation endeavors. Presently, Ted is the President of the Community Scholarship Association of Granby.

Dan Hausmann, CFA
Dan is a founding partner of ALIRT Insurance Research/Dowling Risk Analysis. Dan is primarily responsible for the development and delivery of the firm’s research efforts and client service, spearheading the management of all client projects and special reports. Dan is the chairman of ALIRT’s rating committee for life insurers and is in charge of the continual development of the firm’s insurance analytical models and services. Along with David Paul, Dan oversees the company’s research staff. In addition to these research responsibilities, Dan also actively participates in business development.

Prior to the inception of ALIRT Insurance Research/Dowling Risk Analysis in 1999, Dan was the senior insurance analyst and assistant director of research at the Townsend & Schupp Company, a firm specializing in the financial analysis of life and property/casualty insurers for institutional clients. After joining T&S in 1991, Dan’s responsibilities evolved from statutory analyst, to include special project management, report and studies author, client services and business development.

Dan graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross in 1991. Dan was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon academic honor societies. He received his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1996.

Dan is the Director of the Granby Road Race, a non-profit event in Granby, CT. He has also served on various town governmental boards in East Granby, CT. He and his wife Regina have two children.

David Paul
David Paul has worked as an insurance industry research analyst since 1993, when he joined the Townsend & Schupp Company (T&S) as a specialist in the workers compensation market. He later expanded his expertise into the analysis of the life and health insurance industries. Prior to joining T&S, David worked for Industrial Health Care, where he established and managed a workers compensation loss control program which the firm offered to its industrial client base. In addition, David worked for several years in the development area of Training Implementation Services, where he was instrumental in crafting sales training programs for general agencies and insurance companies, including CIGNA, Prudential, and Guardian Life.

David joined ALIRT Insurance Research/Dowling Risk Analysis at its inception in 1999, and continued to build out the company’s life, property/casualty and health insurance company analytical models/services, client service and special project work delivery. Along with Dan Hausmann, David oversees the company’s research staff, manages internal IT initiatives and development projects, authors a number of the firm’s insurance industry research pieces, and is actively engaged in client service and business development.

David graduated with a BA in classical studies from Washington University, St. Louis where he was elected a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Alpha Theta academic honor societies. He is currently a matriculated student in the American Institute’s Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) program.

David, who is an avid tennis player and musician, lives with his wife and two children in Wethersfield, CT.
